Well here we are in September! WHERE has this year gone?

As I’m writing, the Moon is becoming Full in the Water Sign of Pisces (6 September) & it will peak at 17:02 today. It wouldn’t be unusual to feel super emotional, hyper creative, slightly dazed & confused & really like we’d just like to stay in bed! How this Full Moon will play out for you will depend on your own Personal Chart & where exactly the Full Moon falls. But either way, the general energy will be affecting all of us. Not a great day for making any serious decisions, but certainly a good one for getting your creative on, hanging out with the one or ones you love & dreaming up a rosy future. Pisces is one of the most romantic & idealistic Signs, this Moon is perfect for candle light, lullabies & “what if?” conversations.

The New Moon later this month will be in Virgo, on Wednesday the 20th, at 15:29. Virgo is an Earth Sign & as such, it’s a great New Moon with which to plant seeds of a practical nature. Highly intelligent & detail oriented, Virgo is concerned with getting to the point & getting it right! Sooo, what do you want to set up or perfect in your life? How can you streamline your routines? What can you do to improve your health? Which direction do you want to take your work or business in next? At the very least, how can you improve your “daily grind”? Virgo is super organic & offers us the ability to discover & incorporate new & healthy alternatives into our lives. In relationship, Virgo is all about doing little things here & there to show those you love you care.

For those of you who are new to Astrology, all this Moon business can be a little confusing! I will be talking about it more in future, but as a general rule of thumb…

The Full Moon period of each Month is a good time to set intentions toward wrapping things up & bringing projects to fruition. It’s also a beneficial time for you to release & let go of things in your life that are no longer serving you. These can be simple things like weeding your wardrobe or clearing out the clutter in your desk. Cutting ties in relationships which have outgrown their purpose in your life will also be aided, as once the Full Moon peaks, it’s said to be “Waning”, meaning that as it decreases in size, it can also reduce the things you’d like less of.

The New Moon, as mentioned above, is the time for us to “plant seeds”. By this, I mean it’s a fortunate time to start anything new. You don’t have to make a huge, all out effort, though do so if it feels right! Rather, take one small, tangible step toward manifesting something you wish to bring into your life. If you want a new job for example, freshen up your resume or start to look through job ads. Check out your field of expertise & what the market’s like. The theory is that as the Moon “Waxes” (grows bigger), it will help your set intentions to expand & flourish along with it.

In general, the energy of September starts with a strong floaty flavour, with not only Mercury having been Retrograde over the past few weeks, but also a fair few Neptune Aspects.

Many of you will have heard of the dreaded “Mercury Retrograde”, but for those of you who haven’t… Mercury is the Planet said to “Rule” over our thought process & communication. Technology & machinery are also Mercury ruled. When Mercury is “Direct”, things flow. They carry on productively & smoothly in these areas of our lives. Three or four times a year however, we go through periods where Mercury “goes backwards” (Retrograde!). Typically this plays out in a few frustrating ways. Often, the devices we are all so reliant on, suddenly go haywire for no apparent reason. Our phones misbehave, our computers (technology) lose information, our cars (machinery) won’t start. Then our brains get fried (thought processes) in trying to juggle & fix a que of mix ups & mishaps. Rushed & frazzled, what we say (communication) can be easily misinterpreted & misunderstood. We’re preoccupied & distracted, not thinking clearly… we miss appointments, lose our keys & forget important “stuff”!

In a nutshell, when Mercury is Retrograde it can cause daily chaos for a while. We need to double/triple check details & above all Pace Ourselves until it returns to normal (Direct). If you’ve experienced any of this going on lately (since mid August), you’ll be overjoyed to know Mercury is going Direct today (September 6). You may still have a few things to sort out, but sanity is on its way back!

Just as we finished scrambling through the above we have incoming Neptune energy. This adds a sort of “double whammy” to the confusion scale. Mercury may be Direct, but in September we’re still contending with The Master of Mist. Though Neptune offers us an extraordinary creative boost, we also tend to get more emotionally based, ungrounded & a little foggy in our thinking & perception. Neptune is the Planet which governs the Sign of Pisces. It’s often said that Pisces is an “Unworldly” Sign, far more concerned with abstract concepts, intuition & “just knowing things”. Hide the clock & their diary, give them their favourite drink to sip & leave them to just “Be” & you’ll always have a happy Pisces person around! Though when called for Pisces can be as practical & grounded as any other Sign, it’s at its best when left alone to relax & imagine. Fish people are unconcerned with facts, structure & restraint. Sure such things have their place, but they limit the bounds of creativity! Reckoning thus may be good for a weekend agenda, but for those of us with a busy work/family/social life, Pisces/Neptune energy is not conducive to logical, linear thought, getting things done & out the door, nor sticking to tight schedules & practicalities. During September, ensure you’re making decisions based on FACTS, not what you imagine them to be. Remember to keep your eye on the time. If you’re feeling spacey, leave any serious action until you feel mentally clear & on top of your game again. Things will start to clear up as the month progresses.

As far as the other Planetary influences go, we are well & truly headed into Virgo Season (Happy Birthday Virgo People!!). The Sun (our Egos & who we are, out in the World) & Mars (our action process & how we get things done) are both in the Sign. Venus (Planet of love/beauty/money & all the things we value) will follow suit on the 21st. As is, she’s still partying in the previous Sign of Leo. In combination, this means we’re all tasked to become “Honorary Virgos” in our daily life. The way we act & how we do things should become more focused, detail orientated & meticulous. We’ll be more inclined to problem solve & help others. But when we reach the end of our day, we can go off duty Leo Venus style: Eat, Drink & Be Merry! Live in the moment & enjoy all the good things life has to offer us. We don’t need to be rich, but as long as we feel rich inside, we’re good.

As a final note, Amethyst (pictured above), seems the perfect Crystal to help us regain our clarity & keep our feet planted firmly on the ground. Have a piece nearby or carry a Tumble in your pocket. The word Amethyst literally means “non intoxicated”. The stone was used in Ancient times to prevent it’s keeper from getting drunk & to help them maintain their mental sharpness. It’s a stone with the best properties to combat both Mercury & Neptune shenanigans. I have chosen Amethyst to help align us constructively with the current Planetary energies. The Traditional “Birthstone” for the Sign of Virgo is, of course, the beautiful Sapphire.
